It was a gorgeous day! for Lindsey and Jon’s wedding! Our ceremony was at The Second Presbyterian Church. Holly Wenthall, the church coordinator, was so knowledgeable and had every detail covered. This church has spectacular stain glassed windows inside and beautiful, historic limestone outside. Wonderful for pictures.
Lindsey was one of those brides who told me the ceremony was one of the most important parts to her (I love it when they say that!). So we took our time to make sure everything was special and perfect. Her two family pastors came from out of town to make the ceremony personal and touching.

The Arts Place on North Mill Street
Lindsey and Jon wanted something different for their reception. So they chose The Arts Place on North Mill Street for her its unique personality and layout.
This modern venue in an historic building offers a contemporary look with its warm ivory walls covered in art that changes periodically (so be sure to ask what type of art will be displayed). We were pleased to see the art being changed out the week of her wedding to beautiful, vibrant colors that went perfectly with plans for bright colored flowers.

Monogram sashes adorn the fresh wreaths that greeted guests.

I loved how the art popped off the walls! It really made an impact and guests really enjoyed looking at them during the cocktail hour.

Plenty of room for guests mingling at cocktail hour.
The Arts Center has a wonderful gallery area for guests to mingle, have a cocktail, an hors d’eourve, and enjoy some art and each other as they wait for the Bride and Groom to arrive.
Off the gallery is the Benefactor’s Room which has a wonderful long wooden table, perfect for a buffet and connected to the gallery by 3 sets of glass doors.
The Performance Hall is also connected to the Gallery but gives a softer feel for the reception. It houses up to 300 guests but we settled for 230 with our band, Familar Faces and a huge dance area. Because this group did dance! Oh did they dance!

The mix of high and low centerpieces with lots of color were a necessity in this room.

The tobacco cloth hung from the ceiling made this room softer and more intimate.
The colorful flowers were done by Nancy Hartley, who also owns The Back Room in Midway, and her team. My favorites were the submerged flowers in the windows that were topped with a floating candle (they looked great at dark!) and the custom buffet piece that fit perfectly among the chandeliers in the buffet room.
Fabulous food was provided by DaRae & Friends Catering. Seriously, guests were stopping me throughout the night asking me who made the wonderful food. You know you’ve had a great event when that happens.
Rentals and set up were provided by Events with Design. ALWAYS on time, on the mark and on the money with clean, beautiful rentals! We love Carrie and Shannon.
Can’t wait to see artful photographs by Shaun Ring Photography! I will post pictures from Shaun when they come available.
Yummy carrot, red velvet and strawberry cupcakes were provided by Caramandas. Did I mention the carrot cupcake? It was the best I think I’ve ever had.
Transportation of guests from the Hilton Downtown to the church and to the reception was provided by Bardstown Trolley.

Submerged flowers with floating candles on top lined 8 windows! Fabulous details and stunning at dark! The custom buffet piece that was made to fit between chandeliers.

This room is just off the Gallery and works perfectly for a buffet.
